Dear sir,
My sincerest thanks are extended to you for uploading such a marvelous set of educational material for English language learning. However, I encountered the following problems while attempting to install the BBC software on my machine:
1. I didn't find the right image file for the floppy drive in the rar file "new_Floppy_Image_Creator.rar". The only file I found is: "Copy of bbc.bbc" and I don't believe it is a proper image file. When I tried to open it from the virtual floppy dirve software, I found out that my new vertual a drive has an empty disk. How can I install the right and proper image and where can I find it?
2. My machine has Windows XP service pack 3 and my minimum screen resolution is 800 by 600 pixels. Does this negatively affect the installation of BBC modules?
3. When I started installing the first volume, I opened the first image: "CD 1.nrg" using Virtual Daemon in order to open the image as a virtual drive. Then, I ran the setup file and all installation steps went smoothly. But when I started the software from the icon in the start menu, I received the following message: "No volume installed on hard disk.
BBC volume 1 in the CD-ROM.
Press Load to load volume 1 to hard disk,
or change for another disc." I had one of two choices: Load or Exit. I chose load and files started to be copied to my hard drive. However, after a number of files had been copied, I received the following message: "Error occurs in file copy process.
OK"
Why did I go through these errors? Just because I ran the image as a virtual drive, and I had to burn it to a blank cd? or because my windows platform doesn't support this software? or because my Video adapter doesn't support this software which runs with a screen resolution 600 by 400 pixels?
4. Then, I ignored this error and pressed the OK button. But, unfortunately, I was struck with the following error which hadn't been at all possible to close except by running the task manager and closing the software abruptly: "The specified parameter is out of range for
the specified command.
OK."
I am sorry if I bothered you with all my trouble running this lovely piece of language teaching tool. But I really need to use it and that is why I am trying my best to install it on my machine.
