Youra Guller (1895-1980) made very few recordings, so this one (her last) is a special treasure. It's odd that she devoted so much of the session to Baroque music, but she does adapt these harpsichord works to the piano effectively, without romanticizing. The Liszt transcription of Bach organ music is a great transcription, performed here with amazing grandeur. The little Granados pieces are lovely, but the romantic highlight of the program is the Chopin ballade, a real lesson in building a musical structure. Very fine sound in the resonant Nimbus manner. -- Leslie Gerber

His dream is to have a young audience. He thinks that young people can be brought in Classical Music Halls and be interested in classical music, in traditional repertoire. Everything depends on the presentation.
This is probably why he agreed to perform at an Apple Store in Japan in 2006. He played short pieces, in particular a variation that he made from “Nothing Else Matters” by Metallica. He hopes that teenegers will listen to his music on their iPods. This is an original and interesting initiative.
