Screenshots of MegaUpload's successor released

Nearly a year ago, the popular file sharing website MegaUpload was shut down by the U.S. government, which claimed the site was the bastion for online piracy. Its founder, Kim Dotcom, was arrested, along with several other MegaUpload team members.

While the court case between Dotcom and the U.S. government is still going through the motions, Dotcom has already announced plans to launch a new file sharing service, called simply Mega. Today, Dotcom took to his Twitter account and posted up three screenshots that show off parts of Mega.

The most interesting screenshot is of the file manager interface, shown above. The UI definitely has a look that reminds us of the File Manager for Windows. There's also an icon for a Cloud Drive, which shows Mega will be competing with services like SkyDrive and Dropbox. There's even a "Contacts" and "Inbox" logo in the File Manager screenshot, which likely means that users will be able to use Mega as some kind of online email client.

The other two screenshots are a bit less exciting. One shows off the progress bar for Mega's 2048-bit RSA encryption key generator.

The other screenshot posted by Dotcom shows the registration page for new Mega accounts, with the typical name, email and password setups. Dotcom has claimed that Mega will officially launch on January 20, 2013, exactly one year since the US government shut down MegaUpload.

This is exactly one of the topics I was posting on other forums and sites that this will become the next possible future way of downloading if it works that is.

Just a little side note of how one day soon all download hosts will operate in order to side track these web police from taking there files down, it is happening and will continue to get worse over the next 2 years trust me.

Every file sharing host that begins to become to big with traffic will be attacked in the similar way as many others that have already fallen.

This is what I see coming: One example as stated below which can be used by many file sharing hosts unless you wish too use pay-pal then this may restrict some hosts.

–In spite of being the most popular file sharing websites Megaupload-Hotfile-Filesonic and Netload disappeared in the blink of an eye.

–The ones which are still working are not paying anything to uploaders.
–You are not able to get a SECURE premium membership anymore after Paypal and Avangate stopped supporting file sharing websites.

–We, File sharers are having really hard times… Many websites shut down already. We are not even able to pay the server costs.

–At this point, the leader of the market Rapidshare made its move. Actually this is not something new, Mediafire used to use this system but it was very expensive.

    What is this system ?
    It is actually very simple.
–You our users, will be able to download every single file I upload to as one example this new idea website or any site that uses a system like this via there hosting or by there members free or premium based.

–You will not be able to be tracked thanks to SSL password downloads.
–Our files will not be deleted or removed anymore Because this files will not be seen on other websites and will not be complaint about.

–You will easily be able to get a premium membership on Rapidshare Via Paypal-Visa-American Express-Mastercard-Paysafecard-Reseller options.
–Now, all you would need to do is to join any other member’s rapidshare as a contact

Then the up loaders password contact files would be able to be shared via this method without the need to keep changing file hosting networks while they are under serious attack plus you can still use Pay-pal which is much safer then putting your credit card out there to some file host that may be a bit untrustworthy and trying to just take advantage of this moment in internet piracy witch hunt.

Soon all hosting files will be forced to use this method or face going out like many other big names we have seen in the past year or so.

Google is also hammering down on taking sites down via there search engine plus soon they will be reporting on each offender meaning the file hosting the members and the down loaders.

I know many may say go the VPRN, (Virtual Private Routed Network) or VPN (VPN Client enables computers to connect to a virtual private network via encryption.

Even the old Torrent way is being attacked right now just as hard, and monitored by many different new and old online law enforcement tactics.

Over the course of the next 2 years or sooner you will see a 80% drop in file sharing.
This is a plain and simple fact that is being implemented right now and shall continue too strengthen its grip on what used to be a free cyber space network.

I have seen this coming for the last 10 years now, and trust me it is going to get much harder over the next 2 years.

JMPO and experience after doing this for almost 17 years now.

@hackworth, thanks for the info. I see it to happening esp now with the SOAP and other gov tactics being or trying to take a bite of file-sharing. Hopefully these new ideas will take off and keep the cyber sharing alive.

Just another H.W rant about this topic of piracy, and censorship of the web.

IP alliance wants file-sharing sites shut down worldwide
Torrent file sharers are being heavily monitored by the UK and US

As of right now the 2 main countries that are keeping file sharing alive are Switzerland and Russia and possibly even parts of China, Ukraine, and Italy, and a few other smaller nations with next too no laws on this subject at all nor do they give a damn what the United States wants.

The US is the largest culprit with the aid of the UK which are trying very hard to shut down the internet as it pertains to this piracy act, but they are also trying to censor the entire internet to there liking which makes me want to hurl all over that patriotic war mongering flag of there’s.

I do not understand why the US is being allowed to dictate to every other country what it wants as always.

I look upon the United States Of America today acting out as if they were the next Roman Empire with all its new terrorist laws, and police like controls and helping in provoking wars or turmoil all across the world to meet there needs.

They push every country to live by there ways, there currency, there religion, there laws, while they keep there super power status growing, and now they wish to censor the entire world of free information?

    I say NO MORE!!!!!!!!!

    Don’t get me wrong.
I have friends that live in the US and even they are fed up with the way there country is being changed or should I say Chained.

This must be stopped or we will wake up one day and find we no longer have any more freedoms to do anything without there say.

It is called compromise, something they do not seem to understand.

I just hope there are a few nations still left that will stand up too this empire called the US of A or we may all be living in North Korean like conditions one day.

Oh ya….and GOOGLE can kiss my A$$.

Hey watch it, Hackworth. You speak out of anger, and frustration at the illegal activities of a GOVERNMENT, but are aiming it at as I see it, the people and their patriotism. So, you attack the wrong entity. I'll have you know as an American, I am very partiotic, and I love this nation, nothing is wrong in loving ones own country, but that is not to say I love the government! I despise any government that is aimed to take freedom from people instead of defending them. That is supposed to be the goal and aim of the US government, to protect and defend our Constitutional God Given Rights, however, they have failed in that objective, and have been for more years that I and my great grandmother have been alive. All governments fail the people living withijn any country.
It is NOT the people who support the activities of the US Justice Dept, it is the criminals within the government, and the bigwigs of Hollywood. They claim they have lost million upon millions of dollars because of file sharers and MU, but its all a lie. They have so much money they have all the politicians in their pockets, and who feeds the Hollywood bigwigs? Movie goer's and purchaser's of released films on DVD Blue Ray etc....from ALL OVER THE WORLD!

It is not the time for a blame game, Man. It is time to group together, explain our side, and join together in support of one another who file share, or we will lose the fight for freedom not just on the Net on the Web, but in our own personal lives! They are bigger than we are, so if we want a chance to fight for freedom for ourselves and our families, we must stand together, and be one David, instead of a mulitude without a rock, or a sling. You understand that????
There is no strength in cowardice, but glory can be found in small packages.
If we don't get the word out to those who do not know much about this whole situation, the governments who supoport freedom stealing behavior will be able to easily continue to keep them deceived, using their media outlets like common news programs, so now do you see why there is no time to waste with playing the stupid BLAME Game????
Go after the solution, Dude, and that is information, first. Get out the truth to any and all so they might see the eventual, and closer than they realize outcome if file sharing is stopped in this manner by governments of any nation. The cost is their FREEDOM!

Anyone who loves their life, more than their Liberty, is satisfied to be a slave. I am not one of them!

Xeny, a proud American, who loves Liberty above all else, for without my Freedom, I have nothing. Someone else will own it, and me if my personal freedom is gone.

    Xeny

Sorry bro didn't mean to be so harsh about you and perhaps I did use the wrong approach with the way I ended my comment.

Like I said I have friends in the US and mean no disrespect, just really don't like the whole US government these days.

I have had friends lose a lot since 2008 and have seen big changes that I just cannot agree with nor can they.

but I am sorry if I offended you, it was done in haste cheers mate.

From H.W keep the internet free from the hands of governments that would rather let us watch dancing with the stars all day long.

    Later
