One good reason to put a password in the rar file is that it prevents unscrupulous people to steal the links and put them on an another file sharing website and pretends that they uploaded them.

It is always beyond me why uploaders sharing items even put a password on anything.
Whats the point to it when they are sharing items anyway.
passwording something thats freely being distributed always seem hypocritical.
