Coughlin examines Hussein's regime both before and after its fall, exploring the contradictions of Saddam's private life: his sponsoring of Islamic fundamentalism while whiskey drinking and womanizing as well as his reliance on and celebration of family negated by his violent and temperamental treatment of them. With evidence from family members, servants, and staff, Saddam: His Rise and Fall is unique in its close-up representation of this elusive and secretive world. In all-new chapters and an epilogue, and with shocking new disclosures, Coughlin also vividly recounts the last few months of Saddam's reign and his eventual capture by American forces.

17.08.2008 13:22 | Posted by steven87 | Views 3957 | Tags Hack the Stack → E-Books![]() 416 pages | Oct 17, 2006 | PDF | 6 Mb This book looks at network security in a new and refreshing way. It guides readers step-by-step through the "stack" -- the seven layers of a network. Each chapter focuses on one layer of the stack along with the attacks, vulnerabilities, and exploits that can be found at that layer. The book even includes a chapter on the mythical eighth layer: The people layer. This book is designed to offer readers a deeper understanding of many common vulnerabilities and the ways in which attackers exploit, manipulate, misuse, and abuse protocols and applications. The authors guide the readers through this process by using tools such as Ethereal (sniffer) and Snort (IDS). The sniffer is used to help readers understand how the protocols should work and what the various attacks are doing to break them. IDS is used to demonstrate the format of specific signatures and provide the reader with the skills needed to recognize and detect attacks when they occur.

Cheers !The Chess Mysteries of Sherlock Holmes → E-Books![]() ISBN: 0394737571 | 288 pages | May 15, 2000 | PDF | 7.6 Mb The dazzlingly clever and always entertaining Raymond Smullyan takes an unorthodox approach to chess puzzles by treating them as mysteries--with Sherlock Holmes as guide and mentor. The key concept is retrograde analysis. Rather than figuring out how to achieve some end from a given arrangement of chess pieces, the game is to examine the board and deduce what has happened in the past: Which side is white? What were the previous moves? Prove that a promotion did or did not occur. Which piece has been replaced by a coin? These are just a few of the challenges Smullyan presents through the eyes of Holmes and Watson. He even manages about as passable an imitation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's style as can be expected from a tongue-in-cheek presentation. To enjoy these problems you need only know how chess pieces move. The first puzzles in the book teach all the concepts you need to know to decipher the later ones; the process prepares you to join Holmes in solving a baffling double murder--they keys to which reside in a series of devilishly clever puzzles. The chess game is afoot, and it's almost too much fun!

Money and medical science can extend the human lifespan significantly -- perhaps up to one thousand years via cloning and cryogenics -- but in the end, when the last medical miracle has been exhausted, Death still waits patiently for us. In Death: The Final Mystery, Lionel and Patricia Fanthorpe take their investigative skills to those last moments of life and beyond, exploring such puzzling topics as near-death and out-of-body experiences, reincarnation theories, hypno-regression, and automatic writing and other phenomena of the s?ance room. Evidence is drawn from trance mediums, the writings of mystics, and clear, hard facts reported by reliable eyewitnesses.
06.07.2008 10:17 | Posted by steven87 | Views 1329 | Tags Bloodlines Of The Illuminati → E-Books![]() 598 pages | May 3, 2005 | PDF | 1.5 Mb Fritz Springmeier has written this text as a history of the major families of the global elite, aka "Illuminati." Springmeier has written other books about the mind control techniques of this network and ways of helping deprogram those who have been victims of the cult. Fritz has done an impressive job of tracing the history of these families and their activities, while he is limited in his approach by his apparent "Christian Patriot" beliefs. The author perceives the Illuminati as a satanic cult out to destroy Judaeo-Christian beliefs and believers. Springmeier has also been jailed due to alleged involvement in a bank robbery carried out by an anti-government Christian group, and some people have questioned his activities and motives in his deprogramming of cult victims. While this book has excellent research and insights into history, I find the Christian-Biblical spin limiting. I am inclined to suspect that it is by design that many of those blowing the whistle on Illuminati/NWO conspiratorial activity are of a fundamentalist Christian slant. Since I am convinced that Christianity and the Bible have been to a great extent developed and compiled by Illuminist factions, it makes sense that a dialectic could be set up through programmed persons so that a "Christian" element would try to expose and combat the "Pagan" "New Age" Illuminist movement, both based on distorted belief systems that facilitate giving power away to centralized authorities or false external deities. Thus, I would consider this book useful for historical research and insight into elite global management methods while encouraging readers to be wary of the writer's theological perspective.

This world-famous bestseller has withstood the test of time, inspiring countless books and films, including the author's own popular sequel, The Eyes of the Sphinx. But here is where it all began--von Daniken's startling theories of our earliest encounters with alien worlds, based upon his lifelong studies of ancient ruins, lost cities, potential spaceports, and a myriad of hard scientific facts that point to extraterrestrial intervention in human history. Most incredible of all, however, is von Daniken's theory that we ourselves are the descendants of these galactic pioneers--and the archeological discoveries that prove it...
